- The Church Council consists of the Pastor and 7 elected members.
- The Church Council has general oversight to the life and activities of the congregation, and in particular, its worship life, to the end that everything is done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
- The Church Council is the Board of Trustees of the congregation, and as such shall be responsible for maintaining and protecting its property and the management of its business and fiscal affairs.
- Council members are elected to terms of three years in length with the opportunity to serve for an additional three years.
- The Church Council shall meet once each month.
MEMORIAL COMMITTEE – The make-up and responsibilities of this committee include direct administration and management of Memorial Gifts. The committee consists of the Council Vice President and two other people who will take the roles of Treasurer and Correspondent for the committee. They also determine if gifts received by the congregation are consistent with the religious and ethical standards of the congregation and have the economic potential for achieving their designated purposes.
PARISH EDUCATION COMMITTEE shall in association with the pastor oversee the schools and teaching activities of the congregation. It shall encourage the use of teaching and worship materials published or approved “by our synod. It shall develop an effective teaching ministry, which includes the training of teachers and leaders, and provide opportunity for study by every member of the congregation through its teaching agencies. It shall nominate candidates for Sunday Church School Superintendent to the Church Council. Chairpersons: Eric Nelson & Deanna Needham
BUILDING AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE shall see to the proper maintenance and protection of all property of the congregation and shall take care that the same is kept in good repair. Chairperson: David Cauffman
COUNTING COMMITTEE: shall consist of 2-3 members of the church. These members are responsible for counting the offering and weekly money intake. They will take the money to the bank and deposit it. This committee will be overseen by the finance officer.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE shall make every effort to evoke and promote the expression of Christian faith in daily living. It shall teach the Christian use of money and inform the congregation of its ministry on the local, national, and world-wide level. It shall lead all its members to higher levels of proportionate giving for the Lord’s work, and be responsible for an annual stewardship emphasis in the congregation and other congregational efforts, which lead to informed and grateful giving.
EVANGELISM COMMITTEE shall stimulate and lead all members of the congregation in continuous and, from time to time, concerted endeavors to reawaken the spiritually indifferent and to reach others who are as yet unwon with the Gospel and to encourage them to membership in Christ’s Church. This committee shall personalize the ministry of love, especially among the sick, needy, and troubled, and lead in a shepherding ministry to all congregational members to promote better understanding and acceptance among members.
WORSHIP COMMITTEE shall assist the pastor and Church Council in seeing that the services of God’s house are conducted regularly and in accordance with the liturgies of our synod. It shall see that competent ushers are provided for services of worship, and that hymnals and other devotional materials are provided and cared for properly. This Committee shall be responsible for the interpretation to the congregation of the liturgy, the seasons and colors of the church year, and the hymns of the Church. It shall supervise, and strive to advance the welfare and effective service of the choirs of the congregation, and promote the establishment of new organizations. It shall care for all musical instruments used in the service of worship. The Committee shall see to it that when required, members of the congregation are provided to assist in services of worship in any manner needed.
YOUTH COMMITTEE shall be responsible for all high school and young adult activities within the congregation. It shall be an instrument of this congregation’s concern for its youth and shall promote continued involvement of all young persons of the congregation. This committee shall enlist youth in participation in Leadership schools, conventions, and Bible camps to enrich the Christian experiences of each young person. It shall be responsible to maintain contact with military personnel and college students of this congregation, and encourage their participation in the church wherever they may be.
SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE shall help the congregation understand its role of being Christ’s servant in the world. They shall study current problems of the modern world to promote better understanding and give guidance to all members of the congregation.
